Ever wonder about the meaning behind Audi's four linked rings? Wonder no more,

The four rings represent four different automakers that merged in 1932 to create what was then called the Auto Union. The oldest of these automakers, Horch, was founded in 1899 by German engineer August Horch. Soon after, Mr. Horch left his namesake company to form a new automaker, Audi, which also got a ring in the logo.

Side note: "Horch" is very close to the German word for "listen;" "Audi" is the Latin

Timing Belt Maintenance

Audi vehicles utilize these flexible composite belts, which if allowed to fail will do extensive engine damage. Updated information is as follows:

  • TT Replacement @ 60k miles *

  • A4 Replacement @ 60-80k miles *

  • A6 Replacement@ 75k miles *

  • A8 & A6 4.2 Replacement @ 75k miles *

* All models due on time @ 6 years

Every 2 years regardless of mileage Check cloth top function and rollover protection with cloth top down

Every 3 years regardless of mileage BorgWarner clutch - replace oil (Audi A3, S3, Q3, Audi TT & TTS only)

Every 4 years regardless of mileage AdBlue® Fluid - Replace only if AdBlue has not been filled within the last 4 years (Audi A6 3.0L TDI, A7 3.0L TDI, A8 3.0L TDI, Audi Q5 3.0L TDI, Audi Q7 3.0L TDI only)
